Cairo - Citystars Mall

City Stars Mall is one of the largest, most impressive, and best malls in Egypt. It's a world-class mall unlike any other, bringing together a wide variety of businesses under one roof. It features women's, children's, and men's clothing stores, as well as children's entertainment areas and numerous distinctive and unique restaurants and cafes. Frankly, the place deserves praise and a visit. It's one of the best and most beautiful places for family outings, shopping, and enjoyment. You can spend a wonderful day in a beautiful place. Due to the mall's immense size and vastness, it's difficult to focus on the many similar pathways. However, I highly recommend it and encourage you to visit. Seeing is believing!

I usually wait until checkout to write a review, but this time I just couldn’t wait. As an IHG member since 2015 who has stayed at many IHG hotels worldwide, I can confidently say the warmth and hospitality here have been outstanding and a big part of that is thanks to Ms. Shaima at the lobby restaurant. Her beautiful smile and genuinely welcoming nature immediately caught my attention and made me feel so welcomed. She’s an absolute gem, and the entire F&B team should be incredibly proud and lucky to have her. The Iftar and sahoor have been absolutely delicious big shout out to the chefs for the amazing food. My room is super comfortable and every time I’ve requested something it’s been brought promptly with a smile. And the location honestly the best part, right in the heart of Citystars making everything so convenient. I highly recommend this hotel.

Citystars Heliopolis – A World Within a City Saying that Citystars is massive feels like an understatement. From street level, you can’t truly grasp its scale. Like us, your view is obscured by trees, surrounding buildings, and smaller shops that don’t even belong to the mall itself. Nothing prepares you for what’s inside. Walking in feels like stepping into another world — cool air-conditioning replacing Cairo’s heat, polished floors instead of dust storms. If brand shopping is your thing, this is most likely the place to be. But first things first. To paraphrase Gerard Butler’s Leonidas: “Tonight we dine in Heliopolis!” …But first, we pee and wash our hands. After about 200 meters of walking, we spotted a restroom sign deeper inside. We were welcomed by the scent of floral cleanliness. The facilities were spotless, and staff were constantly present, cleaning and maintaining everything. One small but surprising detail? A clear sign that said: No tipping. Refreshed, we searched for directions. Information screens are scattered throughout the mall to help you navigate this labyrinth. A small warning though — a few screens weren’t working properly, and some had a touch offset issue, meaning you might need a moment to figure out where to actually press. We located the restaurants that caught our interest and made our way up. Once there, we were slightly overwhelmed by the number of waiters enthusiastically handing out flyers for their restaurants. It felt like running a polite gauntlet of hospitality. Neither of us can remember where we ended up eating — the receipt was in Arabic, prices and all — but the meal hit the spot. Afterwards, we headed for the escalators. The elevators were packed tighter than tins of sardines. At the top, we turned right — and then I saw something that genuinely shocked me. Snow. Actual snow. We had stumbled into Snow City Cairo. Indoor slopes, children building snowmen — in Cairo. Of all the things I expected to see that day, snow wasn’t one of them. Mind officially blown. We continued our descent through the mall, and that’s when the view truly became spectacular. Looking down from the upper floors — especially for someone like me who isn’t fond of high edges — was breathtaking. The fountain and garden below looked almost miniature from that height. And here’s the deceptive part: the lower you go, the bigger the floors feel. Instead of shrinking as you descend, the space seems to expand. From above, I noticed an inward-facing balcony lined with tables and chairs — likely a café — but it wasn’t tempting enough to pull me in. I considered stepping into the cinema, but at that moment all the films were in Arabic, so we kept moving. We genuinely wanted to see every store on our way down. But as the minutes passed, the sheer scale of the place made that ambition unrealistic. Two hours after finishing our meal, we finally reached ground level again and made our way to the exit. I don’t know if it officially is — but it felt like the largest mall I’ve ever visited. Practical Tips Uber pickup: The location is on the street, not exactly where the app shows. Some areas near the entrance are blocked off. There are countless taxis waiting outside. However, if you don’t have cash — or don’t feel like negotiating — be prepared. Opening offers can be five times higher than Uber prices. If you’re in a rush, upgrading your Uber category might get you a ride faster. We ended up missing our bus to Luxor at Ramses Station thanks to traffic and delays. Still — it was worth it. Just don’t schedule anything important afterward.
